Poem: A Drive to Red

As the election comes near, I think about what kind of
a world it would be if we did not make it our responsibility
to take care of those in worse situations then our own –
A world that distrusts any collective, societal effort to
help those in need and that resolves to extend equal rights to all.

A Drive to Red – Ben Stapp
Walked bent over
Down for the count
‘I don’t like the way it’s going now’
Autumn’s red falls away
from Maine to the Big Apple Way
‘I don’t like the way it’s going today’
Slouched over cracked through
the blood red paws will bury you
Ran over flat bed truck
Marriage dress is all amuck.
